River Bioscience (Pty) Ltd, has an opportunity for a Maintenancee Technician to join the team. This permanent position will be based at our Addo Facility. This position will be responsible for all aspects of maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and apply fixes to machine breakdowns.
- Conduct regular machine/equipment inspections.
- Conduct internal equipment services/planned maintenance tasks as per schedule.
- Update and manage maintenance schedules.
- Monitor and liase with external contractors.
- Update and manage job cards and schedules.
- Responsible for general upkeep tasks, including but not limited to painting, building repairs and maintenance, general plumbing/electrical/carpentry fixes.
- Applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems and ensuring facilities are tidy and functional.
- Check control panels and other general maintenance problems to identify issues.
- Install appliances and equipment.
- Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and other normal maintenance requirements.
- Check functionality of safety systems.
- Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations.
- Assist with other general tasks as and when required.
Education & Training:
- Matric
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft packages).
- Experience with climate control systems (e.g. humidifiers, aircons and incubators).
- Basic understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Proven experience in similar/related position will receive preference.
Characteristics/Requirements:
- Strong communication skills.
- Must take pride in work and be able to follow instructions clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems.
- Experience using hand and electrical tools.
- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
- Works independently without constant supervision.
Note: This position works in an environment that has moderate occupational hazards, both mechanical and biological (allergens). Candidate will need physical stamina and dexterity in order to move, carry, pick-up various equipment and materials. Candidate may need to work extended hours, including weekends if required.
