Quality Systems Manager

River Bioscience has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Systems Manager to join the team. This permanent position will primarily be based at our Addo Facility with travel to other sites as and when required. The Quality Systems Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure consistent compliance with required standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. The role ensures that all products meet quality, safety, and efficacy standards from research through production and distribution.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Management Systems (QMS)

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company’s QMS in line with ISO 9001:2015, and other relevant standards.
  • Ensure all processes — from R&D to production and packaging — adhere to established quality procedures and documentation controls.
  • Lead internal and external audits and manage corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation, including SOPs, quality records, and deviation reports.

2. Quality Control & Assurance

  • Oversee quality control testing and verification processes for raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.
  • Monitor product quality trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with all departments, including R&D, Production, Technical teams and sales to address non-conformances and ensure process optimisation to obtain a 100% customer satisfaction level.

3. Systems Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive implementation of integrated management systems for quality, traceability, and risk management. Assist with Health and safety adherence as well.
  • Champion digital and process systems that improve data integrity, reporting, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives across departments, as well as handling customer concerns.
  • Develop and track key quality performance indicators (KPIs).

4. Leadership & Training

  • Build a culture of quality awareness and accountability.
  • Equip yourself with detailed knowledge required for all our biological and chemical processes to a level where you can coach and train others.
  • Provide training and support to the various teams on QMS, audit readiness, and quality standards.
  • Supervise quality assurance and systems support staff (when applicable)
  • Supervise quality control activities with related staff.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • A national diploma or degree in quality management systems will receive preference.
  • Qualifications in Biotechnology, Chemistry, and Agriculture will be advantageous.
  • Proven Management lead experience with ISO 9001:2015 systems implementation will receive preference.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in quality management (exposure to the agricultural, biotechnological, or manufacturing sectors will be advantageous)
  • Experience with biological production systems and/or crop protection products preferred.
  • Computer literate (Microsoft package / advanced level)
