12 Mar On the Road with the CGA
Note from the MD
As this financial year draws to a close we can reflect on the successes and challenges that this season has delivered. They help us to address the complexities of our industry as we look to plan in details for the next year. The encouraging result from both our companies makes this planning a positive experience.
Cheers Rob
On the Road with the CGA
Every year the CGA endeavours to meet up and interact with the growers. The aim of this interaction is to update the growers on what the CGA and its subsidiary companies are doing and planning to do for the foreseeable future. It is also an opportunity to discuss any topics of interest and receive input from the growers.
The two activities the CGA uses to achieve this interaction is the Citrus Summit in one year and in the next year a Citrus Roadshow. The summit is when all the growers are invited to come together in one place to meet for three days and the last two of these events have been held in Port Elizabeth with the last one in March 2019. This meant that this year was the turn of the Citrus Roadshow and this took place in the middle two weeks of Feb 2020.
Two groups are set up with a representative from the CGA, CRI, Citrus Academy, Grower Development Company, Cultivar Company and the RBX Group. The RBX group was represented by Johan Vorster in the one group and by Rob Elfick in the other. For two weeks the groups drive from place to place doing presentations and spending some time with the growers from the area in the evening. One group did the North (Musina, Letsitele, Hoedspruit and Senwes) in week one and the Northern and Western Cape (Orange River, Citrusdal, Breede Rivier) in the second week. The other group did the East (Nelspruit, Ohrigstad, Swaziland, Nkwalini) in week one and the Eastern Cape (Kat River, Sundays River, Gamtoos River) in the second week.
A tough few weeks with lots of driving but it once again demonstrates how important interaction is and just how big, diverse, complicated and wide spread our industry is.
It is also a wonderful opportunity to update the industry on what the RBX group has been doing and our presentations were well received
